Cane
is a beautiful brindle shepherd mix with one
ear up and the other down. Cane weighs about
35 pounds full grown and has the most beautiful
'gold colored eyes'. When I first got him his
eyes were so sad but within a couple of days
they have begun to sparkle and tell me thank
you.
Cane is a survivor
of Hurricane Katrina and recently arrived in
my arms from New Orleans where he was found
wandering along I90 all alone, hungry, exhausted
and terrified (breaks my heart to think about
this). I began fostering Cane on Wednesday,
November 23, 2005.
When I first
got Cane he was terrified but who could blame
this little angel after all he had been through?
With 150 kisses within his first 2 days at my
home, living in comfort, security and quiet,
Cane is healing and beginning to let go of his
fear. Cane is about 2 years old, very well-mannered
and learns quickly. He is the kind of dog that
will lay down by your feet and stare at you
with love and admiration. He is the most affectionate
boy and loves to be near his guardian and feel
safe. Cane gets along with other dogs, makes
precious puppy sounds when he yawns, wags his
tail now and is getting along fine.
Cane is being
treated for heartworms and will soon be neutered.
With all the trauma this boy has gone through
he will not be available for adoption until
sometime after the first of the year. Cane will
only be adopted to a home where he will be loved
unconditionally and treated like a King for
the remainder of his life.
